“5 Local Experiences to Understand Barcelona.”
Friend’s Home is a personalised cultural immersion experience in Barcelona. You stay in your own private apartment, but you do not experience the city alone. From the very beginning, your stay is intentionally designed around who you are, what you seek and how you wish to live the city.It feels like arriving in a place where you already have someone — someone who knows the city, understands its rhythms and shares it with you naturally.Friend’s Home is not about tourism.
It is about living Barcelona as it is truly lived.
Friend’s Home is not simply a stay in Barcelona. It is a thoughtfully designed cultural immersion that unfolds in four intentional phases — from preparation before arrival to confident independence within the city. The minimum stay at Friend’s Home is two weeks, allowing enough time for a genuine cultural immersion and for guests to connect with the rhythm of the city. Each phase builds naturally on the one before it, creating an experience that is structured, personal, and alive. To preserve the personal nature of the experience, Friend’s Home welcomes only a small number of guests each year.
Before your arrival, we define your objectives together, explore your expectations and assess your level of independence through a detailed questionnaire and a personal video call. This initial conversation is essential.
Friend’s Home is not for everyone — it works best when there is genuine alignment.I take great care in understanding who you are and what you are seeking, so that I can offer an experience that is truly personal and meaningful. This is not standard accommodation — it is a carefully designed immersion shaped around your cultural interests, your language development and your personal objectives.Once we confirm that alignment, I begin preparing your stay.Your private apartment in Barcelona is thoughtfully arranged in advance, and your immersion programme is carefully designed around everything we have discussed — your goals, your expectations and the rhythm that suits you best.Even before you arrive, the experience has already begun to take shape. The goal of this first phase is clarity, preparation and intention.
When you arrive in Barcelona, the preparation becomes reality. We meet in person for the first time — you put a face to the voice you have spoken with, and the experience begins to feel real. You settle into your private apartment, already carefully arranged for you. From the very beginning, everything reflects the conversations we have had — your goals, your expectations and the rhythm we agreed would suit you best. These first moments are about connection as much as orientation. We begin with the neighbourhood, daily life and practical details — but above all, we establish presence and trust. This phase builds confidence from the very first moment.
This is where the city begins to open differently. The immersion unfolds in the way I would share Barcelona with a friend who truly wanted to understand how life feels here.Everything we explore during this phase reflects the programme we defined together before your arrival — your objectives, your expectations and the focus you chose for your stay. For some, this may mean prioritising conversation and language development through natural, meaningful dialogue. For others, it may mean discovering local traditions, neighbourhood life and the cultural details that shape Barcelona beyond the surface. The structure gives direction,
but the experience remains alive and responsive to the moment.
This is where you begin to live Barcelona in the way you chose to live it.on and intention.
As your stay progresses, something shifts. The city feels more familiar.
You move through it with greater ease.
You begin to recognise places, rhythms and patterns as your own.You are no longer orienting yourself — you are participating. Our meetings become more fluid, shaped by your growing confidence and independence. You know how to navigate the city, how to communicate, how to feel at ease within it.And yet, the presence remains.Friend’s Home is not about dependence — it is about building confidence while knowing you are supported. This final phase is about autonomy, trust and carrying the experience with you beyond your stay.
Every experience is different and shaped around you.But to help you visualise what this could feel like, here is how a day in Barcelona might gently take shape.A day designed around you
Your morning begins at your own pace. You might choose to have breakfast on a sunny terrace near the sea, in a place we selected together beforehand. From there, you continue your day independently, perhaps visiting somewhere that interests you, like the Aquarium, or simply walking through the city and letting it surprise you.At lunchtime, you could enjoy a relaxed meal by the beach —
a paella in Barceloneta, for example —knowing that later, we will meet again.Maybe I am already there, waiting for you with a coffee. In the afternoon, we spend time together — walking through the city, exploring an area you were curious about,
or following a plan we previously shaped around your interests. And as the day comes to an end, we might stay a little longer —sharing tapas, conversation, and the kind of atmosphere
that cannot be planned, only experienced.
Friend’s Home is for adults who want access to the real Barcelona — the one you only discover when you know someone here.
Adults who want to see the Barcelona locals actually live — not the tourist version.
Adults who value real traditions and authentic cultural experiences over organised tours.
Adults travelling alone who want to arrive in Barcelona already knowing they have someone here.
Adults who value having a trusted presence in the city throughout their stay — not as a guide, but as a steady point of support.
Your host in BarcelonaMy name is Mónica Fernández, and I am the founder of Friend’s Home.Friend’s Home was born from something very personal.
The apartment where you will stay is a place I once called home.It is not an investment property or a space created for short-term tourism, but a home I cared for, lived in, and still feel deeply connected to.When I moved to start a new chapter of my life, I knew I didn’t want to simply rent it out.
I wanted to open it to people who wished to experience Barcelona in a more meaningful way. Many travellers hope to discover the real life of a city, yet often experience places only through a tourist perspective.Friend’s Home was created around a simple idea:What if you could arrive in Barcelona already knowing someone here? Here, you are not simply staying in an apartment.
You are arriving as my guest in a city I care deeply about. about.
If you are considering staying at Friend’s Home, I would love to learn a little about you and what brings you to Barcelona.Every stay begins with a short conversation so we can make sure the experience is the right fit for you.
I personally read and respond to every message.
Thank you for your message.I will personally review your enquiry and get back to you as soon as possible.I look forward to speaking with you soon.
